It's simple. Over time, intelligence dropped and a stronger economy bred a generation of spoilt kids who take everything for granted.
Or alternatively, you can just say 95% of the worlds population are idiots and don't understand jack shit of what's going on, hence the majority, or 95% respectively, of the judgement of things in the world are dealt and re-dealt by idiots.
